BEVERLY AFTER DARK
Nurse "Coffy" Coffin leads a double life. During the day, she's a nurse at work. At night, she's an avenging angel on a personal vendetta, tracking down the pushers who hooked her younger sister on drugs. Disguised as a prostitute, Coffy goes on a killing rampage, at first going after street dealers and pimps then gradually working her way up to bigger honchos. The action and dialogue are intense 70s exploitation at its peak. Pam Grier became a superstar in the lead role, with a career of kicking ass and saving the day, eventually having a huge comeback late in life as the lead in Tarantino's Jackie Brown (1997).
